Located at 9 E 90th St, inside the enchanting Cooper Hewitt Museum, Tarallucci e Vino offers a delightful cafe experience that beautifully complements your cultural visit. This charming establishment is not just a stop for a quick bite; it’s an inviting retreat that features a menu brimming with Italian-inspired flavors and a welcoming atmosphere.

Cuisine Type: Italian-inspired cafe

As you step inside, the ambiance envelops you—an airy space filled with natural light, and during the warmer months, you can savor your meal in the picturesque courtyard. Imagine yourself relishing a Bruschetta of the Day drizzled with vibrant toppings or a refreshing Arugula Salad adorned with rich Parmigiano, each bite practically singing with the freshness of the ingredients. A must-try is the Burrata, perfectly creamy and paired with peppery arugula and a drizzle of sun-dried tomato pesto, creating a symphony of flavors that dance across your palate.

If you’re in the mood for something heartier, the menu features delightful paninis like the Caprese, which brings together mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and fragrant basil pesto, packaged perfectly in artisan bread. Or you might opt for the Salmone offering a delicate balance of rich smoked salmon against crunchy cucumbers and a hint of dill yogurt, making it as refreshing as it is filling.

Reviewers rave about their visits, highlighting the warmth of the staff like Carlos and Fabinho, who make the experience even more enjoyable with their friendly service. For instance, Doug Siu recalls a cozy rainy afternoon with his family, praising the cafe's hot chocolate as "the best he’d ever had," while Camrin Cohen emphasizes the spot as a perfect post-museum retreat for sumptuous sandwiches and exquisite iced cappuccinos. Each visit seems to leave patrons not just nourished but uplifted, creating lasting impressions.

However, there’s a touch of suggestion for improvement, with some customers wishing for vegan options and more considerate cafe etiquette from guests utilizing the seats for prolonged work without making a purchase. But, the genuine nice staff and enticing menu largely make up for any shortcomings. The cafe stands as a beloved spot for locals and travelers alike, promising comfort food and warm service, inviting you to linger just a little longer after your museum explorations.

In essence, Tarallucci e Vino at Cooper Hewitt is not just a cafe; it is an experience that nourishes both body and soul. It’s a place to unwind, enjoy a glass of wine, and indulge in delectable offerings that will undoubtedly keep you coming back for more. Whether you’re refueling after hours of art appreciation or simply seeking a cozy nook for a quick lunch, this cafe delivers with heart and charm.

We visited on a rainy winter afternoon and my son remarked the hot chocolate was the best he’d ever had. The Pizza was quick (it was a reheat) but still managed to be a crowd pleaser. The Quinoa salad was delicious and a veritable bargain for museum fare at $6.

This is such a fantastic cafe in the magical setting of the Cooper Hewitt Museum. Sit outside in the courtyard when the weather permits. Great wine and coffee and always helpful service. Favian goes above and beyond! My only complaints are 1. no vegan food options and 2. people often sit in the limited seating without buying anything working on laptops etc for hours...

I was having a very stressful, frustrating morning. As I walked by the Cooper Hewitt Museum I decided to have coffee and pastries at the Taralucci. Fabian provided more than excellent service. His sunny disposition managed to change my mood and warmed that cold day .

This is a hidden gem of a restaurant, nestled within the historic landmark of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in the Andrew Carnegie Mansion, which is across the street from Central Park at E90th and 5th Avenue. The food is fresh, high quality, affordable, and delicious!!! Whether it's for a quick panini or wrap of various types, or a salad, wine, or sparkling water enjoyed in the garden, you will enjoy your visit whether for a brief stay or for the day!!!

We came across this unexpected coffee stop when wondering around the area. Fabian was our barista and very friendly. The coffee was perfect as were the in house baked muffins and cookies.
